On August 1, 2024, we joyfully celebrated the 67th Foundation Day of Smt. M.M.P. Shah Education Society (SMES) and marked the 40th anniversary of Dr. Bhanuben Mahendra Nanavati (BMN) College of Home Science. This milestone holds special significance as Dr. BMN College of Home Science has been granted the prestigious empowered autonomous status this year.
Founded in 1984, Dr. BMN College of Home Science has consistently been a beacon of excellence in education, fostering a nurturing environment for students to grow and thrive. Over the past four decades, the college has produced graduates who have excelled in various fields, contributing to society with their knowledge, skills, and values.
The new autonomous status is a testament to the college's commitment to providing a high-quality education that is both innovative and student-centric. This empowerment allows the college greater flexibility in designing its curriculum, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of the industry and society.

Population First, UNFPA and Dr. B. M. N. College of Home Science (Autonomous) announce an inter-collegiate photography competition for International Women's Day 2024
The primary objective is to help students understand the struggles and triumphs of ordinary women. By creatively capturing women on camera and sharing their journeys, we aim to foster compassion, empathy, and a positive perception of women among students. Both female and male students are free to participate in the event, and the stories accompanying the photos could be in English, Hindi or Marathi.
What is the programme about? From Women’s History Month to global International Women’s Day celebrations, the month of March is a time to champion the power of women’s voices and drive positive change. We take great pleasure in inviting entries for this photography competition - which aims to engage students creatively in identifying and celebrating women who epitomise courage, determination, resilience, compassion, and perseverance in redefining gender roles in everyday life - to mark Women’s Month.
Note The competition aims to generate a significant amount of content for an exhibition to initiate conversations on gender in classrooms. Six entries will be selected as winners, and all participants will receive certificates. Entries will be displayed in the hall, and the prize distribution ceremony will feature a renowned photographer speaking on photograph
International conference on “Reconnecting with Roots: Indian Knowledge Systems for the 21st Century”

Dr. BMN College of Home Science (Autonomous) is organising a RUSA sponsored International Conference on “Reconnecting with Roots: Indian Knowledge Systems for the 21st Century” on 12th and 13th January, 2024.
The conference will be online on 12th January, 2024 and offline on 13th January 2024. The abstracts are invited for oral and e- poster presentations.
Guidelines submission of abstract for oral & poster presentations:
1. The presentation should be made in English.
2. The person submitting an abstract is assumed to be the presenting author. Abstract acceptances will apply only to this person and are not transferable to co-authors. The presenting author must register for the conference.
3. Submissions by email will be considered.
4. The final deadline to submit the abstract is 20th November, 2023.
5. Please indicate type of the abstract
- ORAL PRESENTATION
- POSTER PRESENTATION
6. Title of the abstract is limited to 300 words.
7. No graphs/images/tables should be included in the abstract.
8. After submission of the abstract the presenting author will receive a valid unique abstract ID to the registered email. Please note down this number carefully for further communications. Authors are requested to check their email regularly for updates.
9. All abstracts submitted for oral and poster sessions will go through a review by a panel of scientific committee. Abstracts submitted for oral presentation, if not selected for oral presentation, will be considered for poster presentation. Abstracts not suitable for poster presentation will be rejected.
10. Poster presentations in absentia will not be accepted.
